yesterday i published an article on my blog, little city, called “the power of music.” in just one day, i received an overwhelming response to the concept, and it became clear just how universal the language of music really is. i decided to develop the idea into a collective project that would allow voices from (hopefully) all over the world to weigh in on what music means to them.
the idea itself is simple: think about what makes music such an important, influential factor in your life. write it down. take a photo of what you’ve written. send it to me.
describe a musical experience that changed your life. explain why you think music is the universal language. name a song that has helped you through a hard time in your life. write down why music is essential to us. tell me about a band that has inspired you. answer in any way that you want, but make sure that you answer “why music?”
your contribution can take any form you want, as long as it is less than 25 words. type it on the computer, write it in the sand, cut letters out of a magazine, draw it, tattoo it, photoshop it, paint it, sharpie it, whatever you want – then simply take a photo of it, and send it to me at littlecitysoul@gmail.com

Usable photos are on the internet, perhaps? One song was Richie Havens’ live version of “Freedom”, which he sang to open Woodstock. So raw, powerful, and emotional. A song to last forever! Hessen Riff :D
nice one!!! great song choice, definitely – i have so much respect for folk artists. folk music has this strange ability to be powerful on so many levels…much more so than electronic music (which obviously i love), so it will always have a special meaning for me <3
i'm actually encouraging people to create their own images – so if you do choose an image from the internet, please ensure you give credit where it's due and really try to make it your own. you should definitely consider submitting a contribution with lyrics from "freedom" :) xxxxx
